BIOGRAPHIES

Ben Davidson – Man

Tenor, Ben Davidson, has returned to live in Australia after 20 years in the US. A Masters graduate in Vocal Performance from the University of Connecticut, he has performed with the Boston Lyric Opera, Opera New England, Connecticut Concert Opera, The Connecticut Lyric Opera, Opera Theater of Connecticut, Simsbury Light Opera Company, Pocumtuck Valley Memorial Association, Opera Providence, and Commonwealth Opera. Ben has also had extensive concert experience as a tenor soloist with such groups as Chorus Pro Musica, the New York City Choral Society, Cappella Cantorum, Connecticut Summer Music Festival, Wesleyan Singers, Middletown Chorale, Concert Choir of Northeastern Connecticut, Litchfield Opera Ensemble, Litchfield County Choral Union, The Manchester Symphony Orchestra and Chorale, Concora, The Hartford Chorale, Hartford Symphony and the Stonington Chorale.


Rebecca Hilder – Civil Engineer

Rebecca Hilder has performed in a wide range of genres, from traditional opera repertoire to premieres of new Australian works. Her roles include Amaranta in the Australian premiere of Hadyn’s La fedeltà premiata, Smaragda (The Master Builder – Manolis Kalomiris), Anika (Betrayal – MaryAnne Kyriakou), Barbarina (Le nozze di Figaro - Mozart), Rich Girl (The Happy Prince - Williamson), Countess (Figaro’s Wedding: Mozart minus the frou-frou) and Rosalinde (Die Fledermaus – J Strauss). She has worked with directors such as Moffat Oxenbould, Elke Neidhardt and Cathy Dadd, and worked with international teachers and coaches including Richard Bonynge, Anna Sweeny, Michael Black, Andrew Greene, Simon Kenway and Sharolyn Kimmorley. She currently studies with Glenn Winslade and Amanda Thane.


Peter Miller – The Speaker & Panda

Peter has been an actor for over twenty five years, both in Sydney and Hobart. He has worked with many local companies, including Old Nick, Hobart Rep, Mainstage and Theatrics. Peter’s previous work with IHOS includes taking improvisation classes for the IHOS Laboratory Young Singers’ Program. Peter has frequented both the Hobart and Deloraine drama festivals in recent years and has been lucky enough to come away with several awards at each, both for acting and directing. Peter’s dramatic roles include those in Oh What a Lovely War (various roles), The Shadow Box (Mark), The Club (Jock), The Hostage (Mr Mileady), Buried Child (Tilden), The One Day of the Year (Ron) and last year playing ageing bandleader Danny in Brassed Off.


Lyndall Edwards - Words

Lyndall worked as a professional opera singer for twelve years. She currently works in communication and marketing. She has conducted numerous choirs in the community and at the University of Tasmania, Conservatorium of Music. Her previous work with IHOS was in Da Ponte in Absentia (vocalist) and Euphonic Temples (co-producer).


Constantine Koukias - Music

Constantine is the co-founder & artistic director of IHOS Music Theatre and Opera, based in Tasmania. He is well known for his innovative work in contemporary opera and other hybrid forms. Constantine has composed and directed several large-scale operas, including Days and Nights with Christ, To Traverse Water, MIKROVION, The Divine Kiss and Tesla - Lightning in His Hand. Constantine has been the recipient of numerous international commissions and awards including the Valentino Bucchi Vocal Prize in Rome. His design credits include the internationally acclaimed Medea & Odyssey. In 2004 he was awarded a Churchill Fellowship. He is currently working on Olegas a new film opera about eminent Tasmanian wilderness photographer Olegas Truchanas.
