One-on-one music tuition significantly enhances a student’s musical development and potential. IHOS matches passionate music students aged 14 – 20 with tutors for their instrument from a network of leading musicians located around the world.
IHOS Sky Music enables students to further their commitment in their chosen area of music interest, ranging from voice to instrument, without the geographical or economic constraints that restrict access to independent private tuition.
Initiated in Term 3, 2011, Sky Music is being delivered by IHOS with generous funding through the Tasmanian Community Fund. Students and tutors link up via video-conference facilities in their local schools, or using Skype from their homes.
The pilot is delivering 12 weekly, half hour, one-on-one lessons for 10 students with private tutors.
IHOS’ director Constantine Koukias, works with the heads of the participating school’s music department to audition students. Students are matched by Constantine Koukias with 10 handpicked professional music tutors and receive weekly one-on-one classes on-line. Lesson dates and times are established through consultation with tutors, participating schools music teacher, student and parent.
The target age group for this pilot program are students aged 14-20. Accessing inspirational one-on-one training in this key period makes a significant difference to a young musician’s development and progression to further, more advanced study.
