LUMINOUS is a musical and theatrical performance featuring material from the CD of the same name by Helen Rivero and Ian Blake.
The concert features the unique voice and performance skills of Helen Rivero, set in soundscapes by multi-instrumentalist, Ian Blake, with percussion and guitar from Peter Kennard.
Lullabies from around the world, researched and sung by Helen in languages from Yiddish to Zulu, form the starting point for a voyage through traditional music via improvisation, electronica and performance art. A host of unusual instruments (the fujara, for instance - or the daf, the lyre, the hot fountain pen....) and finely integrated lighting and projection, plus a minimal but evocative set, make for a memorable exploration of the hopes, fears and beauties that exist in our imagination, dreams and memories.
